Chennai Residents Turn to Car Ramps for Flood Protection Amid Monsoon Fears

Chennai: Anticipating heavy rains and potential flooding, several Chennai residents are turning to innovative solutions to protect their cars. After experiencing severe damage during last year’s monsoon, car owners in flood-prone areas like Pallikaranai, Velachery, and Iyyappanthangal are now installing steel or wooden ramps to elevate their vehicles.

B. Aravind, who spent ₹1.5 lakh on repairs after his Innova was submerged, invested in a 2.5 ft high ramp to avoid future damage. Similarly, businessman K.M. Shyam Sundar opted for a ramp for his new Scorpio to avoid lengthy repair delays.

Ashwin Badri, of Vahaan Stack Parking Solutions, reported a surge in demand, noting that ramps can be easily assembled within 15 minutes. The growing trend reflects residents' proactive measures to mitigate flood-related vehicle damages.
