Chennai: In a move to bolster security, Chennai International Airport has introduced 2D barcode scanners at terminal entry points. The new system ensures that every passenger’s ticket is scanned, rather than just visually inspected, by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel.
This upgrade comes after past incidents of unauthorized entries using fake tickets, including one case where a man entered a terminal to spend extra time with his wife. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) implemented these scanners to prevent security breaches and enhance overall safety.
